Coatbridge High has a long tradition of running school football teams winning the Scottish Cup back in the 80's. With the school having grown in numbers, so has the number of teams over the years. This year we have 4 school teams registered in the Lanarkshire League: 13's, 14's, 15's and 16's. In addition to this, all teams and an under 18's team are entered in the Scottish Cup.

Coaching takes place after school (day depending on team), finishing at 4:45pm so as not to clash with local boys club training. Games after school at various days depending on squad preference. Coaching is taken by staff, headed up by Mr Curran (SFA qualified to Youth Level 3 and GK level 1).

We are always looking to strengthen each team and encourage all pupils to try out. Come along and support your team boys!!

Coatbridge Stars
Over the years, Coatbridge High has produced some excellent players who have gone on to be successful. More notably in recent years is Johnny Russell.

Johnny from an early age showed huge potential and through dedication, he established himself as a first team regular at Dundee United before moving to Derby County.

Current pupils who we hope to have a future in the game are Jonathan Black, Christopher Truesdale and Mark Russell. Jonathan Black previously on the books of Motherwell has just signed full-time for Partick Thistle. Christopher on the books of Celtic, currently linked with a number of other clubs and Mark, looking to follow in the footsteps of his brother Johnny, is currently playing for Dundee Utd youth team. We wish each of them every success!!!

It can be very expensive to run so many teams: strips, balls, medical kits, referees, buses etc. Thankfully due to the support of a former pupil David Thornton, Coatbridge High teams are well equipped. David is Scottish General Manager for Finning Cat Uk, based in Hamilton. Finning Cat have sponsored Coatbridge High for over a decade and their support is very much appreciated. Finning Cat also sponsor the player of the year award.

If you or someone you know would like to offer their support to the school through sponsorship, then please contact Mr Curran in the first instance.
