Developing The Young Workforce

Careers Fair

The aim of our Careers Fair was to engage our young people at an early stage to create a coherent approach and to form an understanding of what skills and attributes are needed for the world of work.

We wanted to allow our pupils in S2, 4 5 & 6 to access all available information to help shape and develop their ambitions.

The day was a huge success and will help our young people make informed decisions as they look to take the next step in their school life or future pathway beyond Coatbridge High School.

Historic Scotland

Historic Scotland hosted a Craft Skills Taster session on Wednesday 9th March for some of our senior pupils. This was a practical hands-on taster day which will allowed our pupils to try some of the traditional craft and construction skills including lead work, joinery, brick work, slating and stone carving.

The boys who attended learned a wide variety of skills from the tradesmen who have carried out conservation work on Stirling Castle. The highlight of the day was went the boys got to test their Arch which the built to see if it would stay in place once the supports were removed from underneath. Not only did the Arch remain in place but it also took the weight of one of the pupils as they walked across it.
